Indianapolis, IN — George Hornedo’s campaign for Congress today released its second-quarter fundraising report, marking a decisive turning point in Indiana’s 7th District. Despite Congressman André Carson having his best Q2 ever, Hornedo has officially outperformed him across nearly every major metric—from number of donors to small-dollar volume to geographic reach.

“We’re not waiting for permission,” said Hornedo. “We’re building something new—with people—and we’re just getting started.”

Tony Coelho—former Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chair, the first-ever elected U.S. House Majority Whip, Chair of Al Gore’s 2000 presidential campaign, and Chair of George Hornedo for Congress—added:

“What George accomplished last quarter isn’t just impressive. It’s historic for this district. I’ve chaired presidential campaigns and led the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. I know what it takes to win. George is building this campaign from the ground up—with people—and these numbers make one thing clear: he’s putting together a winning coalition.”

Example supporters include respected local leaders like Marianne Glick and Mickey Maurer as well as national leaders like Naomi Aberly (Former Planned Parenthood National Board Chair) and Marco Davis (CEO and President of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute).

NARRATIVE BREAKDOWN

Grassroots Strength

George’s 693 total contributions and 575 unique donors are more than 4x Carson’s Q2 average, proof that this campaign is powered by people and not insiders.

  • Hornedo raised more small-dollar donations in one quarter than Carson has in all off-year Q2s combined.

  • His 79% small-dollar rate dwarfs Carson’s historical average of 7%.

  • Many donors gave more than once, signaling depth of investment and not just curiosity.

Indiana Roots

With more in-district donors than Carson’s last five off-year Q2s combined and more in-state donors than Carson’s last four off-year Q2s combined, Hornedo’s support is homegrown and rising.

  • Despite Carson’s incumbency, Hornedo has built a stronger base in just a few months without the advantages of title, staff, or party machinery.

National Momentum

Donors from 41 states + DC underscore a campaign with national resonance.

  • Carson’s best off-year Q2, in 2015, drew 98 out-of-state donors. Hornedo drew 428 this quarter.

  • This is no longer a local challenge. It’s a generational signal being heard across the country.

Structural Breakthrough

Hornedo raised more from individuals alone than Carson has ever raised total in an off-year Q2.

  • George raised less than 2% raised from PACs compared to Carson’s 78% which is his highest dependence on PACs in any quarter ever

  • George rejects corporate PAC money compared to Carson who raises more from corporate PACs than from individuals

  • It’s not just a new campaign. It’s a clean break from a broken political structure.

These numbers don’t just show viability.

They show momentum. They show a path to victory. And they show a new coalition rising to claim it.
