Hornedo Campaign Surpasses 25,000+ Voter Contacts, Becomes Grassroots Defense Vehicle Against GOP Redistricting Push
Monday, September 22, 2025
Indianapolis, IN — As Indiana Republicans prepare for a possible special session to redraw congressional maps, George Hornedo’s campaign announced today that it has already built the largest grassroots field operation in the state—one capable of fighting back against attempts to silence Hoosier voters.
In just the last few months, Hornedo’s campaign has:
-
Knocked 10,581 doors
-
Made 7,818 calls
-
Sent 6,734 texts
Together, that’s more than 25,000 direct voter contacts and thousands of conversations with neighbors about what’s at stake for Indiana’s democracy. No other Democratic campaign, committee, or elected official in Indiana has come close to building an operation of this scale.
“This campaign isn’t just about one candidate or one seat. It’s about giving people a voice when Republican officials try to take it away,” Hornedo said. “We’re building the largest sustained grassroots defense against Trump’s cheating redistricting scheme—knocking doors, making calls, and mobilizing thousands—and using this campaign as a vehicle to rebuild the Democratic Party from the bottom up.”
Hornedo emphasized that the effort extends beyond his own race.
“Indianapolis has gone from having the best voter turnout in the state to the worst," Hornedo said. "That didn’t happen because people stopped caring. It happened because the party stopped organizing. Today, our campaign is doing more to reach voters than the state party or any elected official in Indiana. We can’t fix what we refuse to face.”
The campaign has pledged to keep scaling its organizing capacity, with the goal of building a grassroots engine strong enough to challenge redistricting, elect Democrats up and down the ballot, and end the GOP’s supermajority in the State House.
“Grassroots power is the only way we fight back and the only way we win again,” Hornedo said. “And that’s exactly what we’re building.”
