George Hornedo Releases Final Plank of the Fair Shot Agenda: A Democracy That Puts People First
Monday, October 20, 2025
Indianapolis, IN — Congressional candidate George Hornedo today unveiled A Democracy That Puts People First, the fifth and final plank of his Fair Shot Agenda—a comprehensive plan to rebuild opportunity, accountability, and trust in government for working Hoosiers.
The new plank calls for bold reforms to ensure that democracy serves the people—not politicians, corporations, or special interests. It outlines concrete steps to expand voting rights, end gerrymandering, get big money out of politics, and restore equal representation for all Americans.
“We don’t have a democracy crisis because people stopped caring,” Hornedo said. “We have a democracy crisis because politicians stopped listening. This isn’t about left versus right. It’s about people versus a broken system. It’s time for government to serve those who make it run, not those who pay to control it.”
Hornedo’s plan centers on seven priorities:
-
Restore Accountability: No One Is Above the Law: Reestablish checks and balances by limiting presidential immunity, restoring DOJ independence, and strengthening congressional oversight.
-
Protect the Right to Vote: Pass a National Right to Vote Amendment, restore the Voting Rights Act, and guarantee language accessibility at polling places.
-
Make Voting Easier, Not Harder: Expand early voting, implement automatic voter registration, and make Election Day a national holiday.
-
End Gerrymandering and Protect Fair Elections: Create independent redistricting commissions and ban partisan map manipulation.
-
Get Big Money Out of Politics: Overturn Citizens United, ban dark money, and require full campaign finance transparency.
-
Expand Voter Choice with Ranked-Choice Voting: Empower voters to rank candidates and encourage coalition-building instead of division.
-
End the Electoral College and Respect Every Vote: Enact the National Popular Vote Compact to ensure one person, one vote.
-
Term Limits and a Culture of Service: Enact 18-year term limits for members of Congress and Supreme Court justices to renew leadership and accountability.
-
Equal Representation for All: Grant statehood to Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico to end taxation without representation.
“A healthy democracy cannot be bought and it shouldn’t be gamed,” Hornedo added. “When we expand access, protect fairness, and make sure every voice counts, we not only strengthen democracy but we restore people’s faith that government can still work for them.”
A Democracy That Puts People First completes Hornedo’s Fair Shot Agenda, his five-part blueprint to build a future where every Hoosier has a real stake in the system. The previous planks address economic growth, infrastructure, public safety, and sustainability:
Together, these five planks outline Hornedo’s vision for a government that delivers—rebuilding from the bottom up, not the top down.
