George Hornedo Responds to Special Session Announcement
Monday, October 27, 2025
Indianapolis, IN — In response to Governor Mike Braun’s announcement of a redistricting special session scheduled for November 3, congressional candidate George Hornedo released the following statement:
“Let’s call this what it is: a power grab.
Governor Braun and Donald Trump don’t care about fair representation. They’re pushing this special session to eliminate Democratic seats and redraw maps to silence voters. And they’re targeting Indianapolis.
This is why I’m running: because our politics are broken, the old way has failed, and we need to build what comes next.
If they gerrymander Indianapolis to eliminate this district, we organize across the city. If they rig the maps to silence us, we meet them with one response: more organizing, more voters, more power.
Because what we’re building isn’t about a single map or a single cycle. It’s about a movement strong enough to win no matter how they draw the lines.
We’re rebuilding the Democratic Party in Indiana block by block, precinct by precinct. And whether the establishment is ready or not, we’ll be ready.
That means organizing across Indianapolis because this city is the engine for Democratic growth statewide. And it means standing with candidates up and down the ballot—including State House challengers in competitive seats—to break the Republican supermajority.”
Hornedo’s campaign has already reached over 50,000 voters in Indiana’s 7th District through direct voter contact. His grassroots campaign has drawn national attention for its rapid growth, coalition-building, and challenge to long-entrenched political systems.
