INDIANAPOLIS — In his first week as a candidate for Indiana’s 7th Congressional District, George Hornedo has drawn significant attention to his primary challenge. His announcement video has been viewed more than 600,000 times on X (formerly Twitter) alone, and his message is drawing attention from national media and local voters alike.
On the ground, Hornedo has already made stops across the district—joining an anti-Trump rally on the Far East Side, helping clean up the East Michigan Street Community Garden, meeting with seniors and local church groups, speaking with labor leadership, and connecting with grassroots Democrats at the Warren Township Democratic Club.
National coverage has followed. The New York Times, The Hill, NBC News, Politico, The Daily Mail, and other major outlets have highlighted Hornedo as part of a wave of challengers pushing the Democratic Party to do more—and do better.
Meanwhile, 17-year incumbent Rep. André Carson has struggled to find a clear response to Hornedo’s rising campaign—giving conflicting statements to outlets across the country and resorting to personal attacks in the face of growing momentum.
“This campaign is about bringing real leadership back to Indianapolis—leadership that shows up, tells the truth, and actually builds power for our communities,” said George Hornedo. “The response from Congressman Carson’s team tells you everything: they know this is viable, and they know the city’s ready for something new.”
