PRESS RELEASES

George Hornedo Welcomes Destiny Wells to Democratic Primary

Friday, February 6

Indianapolis, IN — Following the filing of two-time former statewide candidate Destiny Wells in the Democratic primary for Indiana’s 7th Congressional District, congressional candidate George Hornedo released the following statement welcoming competition and reaffirming his campaign’s focus on turnout, trust, and bottom-up organizing.

“I welcome Destiny Wells to this race. Competition can be healthy and the people of the 7th District deserve leadership that takes accountability seriously and is willing to do the work required to rebuild trust in our politics.

What matters in this moment isn’t résumés or ambition, but it’s whether candidates are actually present in the lives of the people they’re asking to represent. That’s where this campaign has been focused from the beginning.

We’ve built a direct voter contact operation larger than any Democratic campaign Indiana has seen in years—so far knocking on 33,451 doors, making 408,529 phone calls, and having real, two-way conversations with neighbors across every part of this district about what they expect from representation.

And this work didn’t just begin. During last year’s redistricting fight, our campaign built the largest Democratic field operation in the state— knocking over 24,000 doors, making more than 40,000 calls, and helping neighbors understand what was at stake and how to take action.

The reality is that turnout in Indianapolis has been declining for years. Too many people feel unseen, unheard, and disconnected from politics not because they don’t care, but because they don’t feel anyone is showing up for them. You don’t fix that with slogans or credentials. You fix it by listening, organizing, and earning trust one conversation at a time.

I’m running because this seat belongs to the people of the 7th District and not to any individual, not to any title, and not to any political class. My focus remains simple: show up, do the work, and build real power with the people of Indianapolis.”
