PRESS RELEASES

George Hornedo Calls for Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett to Step Down

Monday, June 2, 2025

INDIANAPOLIS — Today, Democratic congressional candidate George Hornedo (IN-07) released the following statement:

“Mayor Hogsett should step down.

The report released last week may show legal compliance, but it also reveals a disturbing pattern of delay, deflection, and disengagement in the face of serious allegations. At a time when public trust is already strained, the bar for leadership must be higher. Our city deserves public servants who respond with urgency, stand with survivors, and take responsibility without being prompted.

But this moment is about more than one report. It’s about years of erosion—of public confidence, civic engagement, and institutional strength across every level of Indianapolis leadership.

We’ve seen our party’s infrastructure hollow out. Precinct leadership roles sit vacant. Entire communities left disconnected from the political process. And whether in City Hall, the Indiana General Assembly, or Congress, too many elected officials have become distant from the real work of showing up, delivering results, and building for the future.

This is a pivotal chapter in the life of our city. We can no longer afford to confuse tenure with leadership. Indianapolis needs a break from the past—fresh voices, deeper accountability, and a governing culture grounded in presence, performance, and people.

It’s time for Joe to go.”
