Hornedo Reiterates People-Funded Pledge, Calls on Rep. Carson to Return Corporate PAC Money

Tuesday, February 10

Indianapolis, IN — Congressional candidate George Hornedo today reiterated his May 2025 commitment to reject corporate PAC money and released the following statement calling on Rep. André Carson to return the corporate PAC funds he has accepted.

“I made a commitment within the first month of this campaign to reject corporate PAC money because who funds you shapes who you’re accountable to. My campaign is 100% funded by individual donors. More than 80% of that support is small-dollar, and we have four times as many in-district donors as an 18-year incumbent. By contrast, Congressman Carson has raised roughly 73% of his money from PACs, much of it corporate, with only about 7% coming from small-dollar donors. If rebuilding trust actually matters, returning that money would be a meaningful place to start.”

Hornedo welcomed recent public commitments in the race to reject corporate PAC money, while emphasizing that timing and track record matter.

“I appreciate anyone in this race who commits to rejecting corporate PAC money going forward. Destiny Wells has pledged to do that after accepting corporate PAC money in her two statewide races. That shows it’s possible to reverse course. The same is true for Congressman Carson. It’s not too late for him to return the corporate PAC money he’s taken and run a people-funded campaign. Voters deserve to know their representatives answer to them, not to donors with business before Congress.”

Hornedo said rejecting corporate PAC money is part of a broader effort to keep the race focused on local needs, not national interference.

“As this race heats up, I’m calling on all candidates not only to reject corporate PAC money, but to reject outside spending from divisive national organizations that have nothing to do with the lives of people in Indianapolis. The issues voters raise with me every day are simple and urgent: the cost of living, crumbling roads, public safety, schools that work, and a government that actually shows up. That’s who I work for. And that’s the standard this race should be judged by.”
