George Hornedo Responds After Carson Calls Him a “Modern-Day Slave Master”

Tuesday, February 3

Indianapolis, IN — After George Hornedo publicly criticized Congressman André Carson’s lack of proactive leadership on ICE overreach, Carson accused him of being a “modern-day slave master” in a televised interview. Hornedo responded:

“Congressman Carson called me a “slave master” after I challenged his lack of proactive leadership on ICE.

That says more than any explanation could.

The real question is why he only speaks up after headlines, party permission, or political pressure.

I’m not asking him to report to me. I’m asking him to show up for the 7th District without a camera on.

If Congressman Carson wants to debate his record, I’m ready. Anywhere, anytime.”

Background on ICE Accountability

Over the past two weeks, Hornedo has repeatedly pressed Congressman Carson to act more decisively on ICE oversight and accountability:

  • Jan. 21 — Hornedo called out Carson for not joining House Democrats seeking impeachment of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem over ICE abuses.

  • Jan. 22 — After public pressure, Carson joined the impeachment effort; Hornedo criticized the delay as reactive leadership.

  • Jan. 27 — Hornedo called on Carson to clearly state whether he supports abolishing ICE, releasing a detailed framework after Carson offered only vague reform language.
